"Rich amber hue. Moderately full-bodied. Medium bitterness.
Aromas show an assertively aromatic hop character and subtle
caramel notes. Full flavored with a fine toasty malt palate and
a crisp, clean character with an almost Pilsner-like bitterness
to the finish." -Beverage Tasting Institute

"Deep, copper color with a frothy head. Roasted nut and smoky,
bark-like aromas. A racy entry leads to a creamy, medium-bodied
palate with dark roasted malt and nuts, smoked peat, and a nice
touch of treacle and molasses. Finishes with a crisp brush of
mild, citrusy hops and fresh cut grass. A round, elegant style."

"This is an incredibly fine ale. Solid ale flavour but with
fruity undertones that give it a nice unique flavour. The
aftertaste is there but with little bite. Meaning that this beer
goes down remarkably smooth. So if you like beer with flavour
that you can drink easily and quickly, look for this one."

"Dark copper. Toffee, dried fruit, and salty roasted nut
aromas. Soft and smooth with off-dry caramelized malt and raisin
flavors. Finishes with sweet mild citrus and earthy hops. Deep,
almost woody, malt flavor, superb drinkability, and ripe fruit
flavor make this a devilish treat." -Beverage Tasting Institute

4 1/4 Stars -Alcoholreviews.com
Recommended...“Amber
Ales can be clean, refreshing and yet full of flavor. Take
Mendocino's Red Tail Ale for example. Beginning with a
clear, deep amber hue and a tall, frothy off-white head Red
Tail is already a departure from the ordinary. Inviting, but
light, malt aromas of caramel, cookie and toasted bread
segue to crisp floral and orange hop tones. Malt sweetness
is reserved in the flavor, steering clear of being too heavy
or cloying. Moderate finishing bitterness and a soft acidity
keep Red Tail quite refreshing. Ending with a medium body,
soft texture and lively carbonation anyone would be hard
pressed to disagree with a Red Tail on a warm day.” -Brandon

Featured..."...well-developed, vigorously bitter brew with balancing, sweet
caramel-malt qualities...blending of bitter and sweet as the
copper-amber body warms to room temp. An ongoing citrus presence
nicely complements the enveloping, hop-accented aroma. Its
somewhat dry finish has helped make this pioneering ESB a
lasting fixture on the American beer scene." -365 Bottles

"Brilliant
amber hue. Round, buttered caramel apple aromas. A rich entry
leads to a frothy
medium-to full-bodied palate with toasty grain malt and
grapefruit-like citrus flavors. Finishes
with a crisp, clean fade and a nice balance of bittering hops.
Tasty, but more of an American
stock ale than a classic Alt." -Beverage Testing Institute

"This beer should be savored so as to enjoy the sweet and
fruity aspects, which are more prevalent here than in most
examples of the style. Additionally, the hop profile is very
low and almost nonexistent in terms of bitterness. We’re
proud to call Wexford the easiest drinking beer we tasted
this issue. " -Draft
