Originally a
variant of Porter beer, the term “stout” was first introduced by
Guinness in the 1820’s regarding their Stout-Porter. After this, the
beer industry freely used the word “stout” to describe a “strong” beer.
In fact, it wasn’t until the end of the 19th century that stout was only
associated with porter (synonymous with a dark beer).
Today,
Stout differs from Porter in that Stout is usually darker, higher in
alcohol content, and richer through the use of heavily roasted malt.
Styles of Stout may vary considerably and include Sweet, Dry, Oatmeal,
Imperial, and Flavored. Check out a few of Habersham's great
specialty Stouts at the best prices in town! |

Young's
Double Chocolate Stout

"Young's
Double Chocolate Stout when drank at near-room temperature is a
semi-sweet, chocolatey slightly smoky beer. It's quite
flavorful. Though it finishes slightly bitter, it also hints at
a sugary-berry sort of taste. As I drank it I kept thinking it
make a good substitute for rootbeer in a vanilla-rootbeer float.
It's quite good, and I'd recommend it to someone looking to try
a stout for the first time." -Alcoholreviews.com

blackish-brown hue. Fruity, chocolatey aromas follow through on
a medium-bodied palate
with a smooth mouthfeel, delicate hop flavors and a gentle,
bittersweet finish. A highly

Murphy's Irish Stout

"Mmmmm-
Murphy's Stout, in a can. yes, in a can. Sure, purists will
grouse that if it's not on tap then it's not real Murphy's.
Whatever. The contents of this pint can are poofed by one of
those wonderful, magic widgets. Crack the can and FUFFFFFFFF!
out comes a very creamy brew. Just feel the texture...And if you
can resist, watch the cascading sheets (much like the Guinness
sheeting action). A little roasty, a little sweet, and showing a
coffee endnote, this is pleasant ale." -Alcoholreviews.com
