89 POINTS/GOLD STAR
-HABERSHAM TASTING PANEL
Fragrant and floral, with a
temptingly fruity sensuality. On the palate the wine is voluptuous,
with a silky texture and the sort of fresh, fruity body
(blackcurrant, cranberry, redcurrant) that only Pacific Cabernet
Sauvignon roses can offer.

"The 2004
Protocolo Rosado is a dry, zesty rose possessing surprising body, a
fragrant personality (strawberries and cherries), and a crisp, zingy
finish. It is a blend of 50% Bobal (another indigenous Spanish

The German-born Maibock style
traditionally signifies the coming of Spring and has enough presence to
keep you warm on an off-placed chilly night. Stoudts’ entrant in the
world of Maibocks fits the bill perfectly. Starting with a tall, frothy
white head and a clear medium gold to brassy hue, the visual appeal is
intense. The aroma is strong, but not overwhelming; clean, malty notes
of dark breads, rich toasted grains, and a touch of honey. Soft and
spicy noble hops play second fiddle, but are intriguing none the less.
The initial taste is malty sweet, staying true to the aroma and
introducing a slight note of dates. A slow, lasting finish is made
enjoyable by a continuation of the smooth malts and crispness by way of
muted spicy hops and tingling carbonation. The mouthfeel has real class,
with a medium to full body, slick texture and cleanliness in spades.

Bock is expertly hidden, so be careful! If Maibocks are up your alley,
make sure you try out Rogue Dead Guy Ale as well!
