"Thick,
malty, dark, aromatic, woody flavored, this has it all. I would
have no problem trying their ther beers based on this
experience. This was a good "best foot forward" for Abita, I
think." -Opinionated Beer Page

Place Brown Ale -1997
Colorado State Fair
Bronze Medal -2005 Great American Beer Festival
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat
nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab,
for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this
beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts,
while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's
second to none, just like Ellie!

"Pours with a thick tan-colored head. Dark chestnut brown hue.
Toasty, sweet malt aromas. Well-carbonated and showing a
chocolatey note to the toasty malt flavors and some earthiness
on the medium-bodied palate. Lush hops are in fine balance and
this is both flavorful and accessible to all palates." -Beverage
